Deep Purple to Release 21st Studio Album

Legendary rock band Deep Purple are set to release their 21st studio album, Whoosh, later this year.

The band’s followup to their 2017 album, Infinite, will hit the shelves on June 12th and is already available for pre-order.

The new album includes 13 tracks and was recorded in Nashville with producer Bob Ezrin. This is the third time in a row the band has worked with the esteemed producer, who has also worked with Pink Floyd, KISS, and many other classic rock groups.

The album is said to encapsulate the most “versatile” and “boundary pushing” aspects of the band’s collaboration with Ezrin. The band’s label, earMusic, said of the album: “Deep Purple is putting the Deep back into Purple.”

When asked whether Whoosh would be the band’s last album, bassist Roger Glover said, “I‘ve been asked a lot: Is this our last album? I remember when we did ‘Now What?!’, which is now what…8 years ago? And then we did ‘InFinite’ and Don was asked is this the last album? He said, “I thought the last album was the last album.””

Following the release of the album, Deep Purple will embark on a 5 date tour of the UK in October supported by Blue Öyster Cult.
