Robert Smith Vague About Album Release Date

Having been teasing fans with the promise of a new album for quite some time already, Cure frontman, Robert Smith, continues to be vague about the release date of new material.

In an interview with NME, Smith said, “We’re just wrapping it up now, it’s going to be mixed. Until it’s out, no one will believe me. I look forward to it coming out, more than anybody else. Trust me.”

When asked if he could provide at exact date Smith replied, “No. I’m too old to commit to idiot things like that.”

The Cure’s last album, 4:13 Dream, came out in 2008 and everybody — Robert Smith included apparently — thinks it has taken far too long to produce a followup.

It is not as if the band has been resting on its laurels, however. They won Best Festival Headliner at the NME awards on February 12th, an award they certainly earned having toured extensively over the last decade, playing 35 festivals on 5 continents.
